At Eversfield Organic, knowing where your food comes from is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that great meat begins on the farm, with farmers who are deeply committed to the land, their animals, and sustainable practices. That’s why we’re proud to work closely with trusted suppliers like Bowden Farm on Dartmoor, our long-standing source of organic lamb and beef.

Located less than an hour from our butchery in Devon, Bowden Farm plays a vital role in our commitment to low food miles and local sourcing. We have worked alongside Russell Ashford and his family for many years, building a relationship rooted in trust, shared values, and a mutual dedication to producing high-quality organic meat.
Russell and his family have been farming at Bowden Farm since the 1950s, bringing generations of knowledge and care to the land. In 1997, they made the transition to organic farming, further strengthening their focus on animal welfare, soil health, and environmental stewardship. Today, the farm is home to Aberdeen Angus and British Blue cattle, alongside Scotch Blackface sheep—breeds perfectly suited to the Dartmoor landscape and known for producing rich, flavourful meat.
Our approach at Eversfield Organic is to work as closely as possible with farms in our local area. By sourcing from places like Bowden Farm, just under an hour away, we not only ensure freshness and quality but also significantly reduce food miles. This commitment extends beyond the farm, as we also support local, family-run abattoirs within a similar distance, helping to maintain a truly local and sustainable supply chain.

Supporting British farmers has never been more important. Farms like Russell’s are doing incredible work to protect the environment, improve soil health, and raise animals to the highest welfare standards. Organic farming takes time, care, and dedication, and by choosing organic meat, you are directly supporting these efforts.
When you buy from Eversfield Organic, you are not just purchasing meat—you are supporting farmers like Russell and his family, and contributing to a system that values sustainability, transparency, and quality at every stage.
