Our meat is packaged fresh in a controlled atmosphere for a longer shelf life. It arrives in vacuum packs or trays to make it easy to pop into your fridge or freezer and reduce the amount of stuff going to landfill.
Our boxes are cardboard and 100% recyclable. We also use WoolCool natural sheep’s wool liners to keep our boxes insulated and cool. These are totally compostable at home or can be reused for a plethora of things including, wrapping soft fruit plants in your veg patch, keeping rabbit hutches cosy, preventing your windscreen frosting up in winter, stuffing pillows and quilts…the list goes on. We’ve also seen a wonderful handmade sheep’s costume!
If you’d like to show off the weird and wonderful ways you’ve reused our packaging, send us a photo to email@example.com or tag us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
All our meat is delivered fresh once butchered on the day of despatch to you. Each product is marked with its own use by date for being kept chilled in your fridge at home. If you’d like your product to last longer, we recommend popping into the freezer on the day of your delivery, for use up to three months later. Our sausages and burgers should be cooked from fresh within 2 days or frozen on day of delivery.
Freezing red meat can alter the appearance slightly, but don’t worry this is completely normal and will not affect the flavour or quality.
Ensure any frozen meat is fully defrosted in the fridge before cooking.
We do not recommend freezing our Roam & Relish charcuterie range. The bacon freezes well but the cooked meat; ham, pastrami and salt beef, loses its fantastic texture a little once frozen, although it is perfectly safe to eat.
