Make the most of your whole chicken, bones and all, by boiling up your own bone broth. Nutritious and immune-boosting, bone broth is simple and cost-effective to make. Either pick up a pack of chicken carcasses or use up your bones from your Sunday roast.
Makes 1 litre per carcass
Cooking time: 6-12 hours
1 chicken carcass makes 1 litre
Organic cider vinegar or lemon juice
100g offcuts or ends from onions, celery, carrots or leeks
5-6 black peppercorns
1 bay leaf
Tip: If you want to use just a little bone broth at a time, try pouring into an ice cube tray, freezing and defrosting as and when you require.
