A truly unique and hugely popular cheese made with organic sheep and cows milk, famously squeaky before cooking, transforming to gooey and crisp perfection once grilled or fried. Not unlike a grilled marshmallow in texture, but with a taste not dissimilar to bacon - what's not to love?
Try grilling and serving in a warm salad with fresh sliced peaches, sliced ham and peppery leaves. For a vegetarian burger alternative, fry halloumi in thick slices and top a portobello mushroom along with a dollop of sweet caramelised onions.
Being stored in brine, halloumi is quite a salty cheese, if it is too salty, rinse it under running water before using it.
Once opened, halloumi can be kept in fresh water in the fridge for several days, or it can be frozen in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Please note the weight of this product can fluctuate between 150g and 180g.
