Some Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is organic farming?
   organic farming doesn´t use any chemicals or pesticides on the land, or in the feed we give our livestock.  This means that our animals only eat natural food which results in meat which tastes better and is healthier for you to eat.
2. What does traceability mean?
   If you care about what you eat, then you may be interested to know where your food comes from.  With organic farming practises, we record every detail about an animal from its birth to the day it becomes a food item. These records are linked to a single unique number which the animal wears through its life on a tag - usually through its ear - which is then attached to the carcase and is finally added to the label which appears on each meat product we send you. 
3. Who are the Soil Association?
   They are one of several bodies who set standards for organic farming in the UK.  They are approved by DEFRA and we follow the Soil Association standards, and we´ve been certified by them since 2004.  Find out more here.
4. Where does Eversfield Organic Meat come from?
   All our meat comes from our own livestock here on the farm - with the exception of poultry which is sourced from Devon based organic poultry farms. Our cattle, pigs and sheep are born here following a natural breeding cycle to ensure our animals produce strong, healthy young. They live outdoors through the seasons eating a natural mix of wild herbs and grasses which grow year round on our lush, mineral rich pastures. Our cows are brought inside during winter, but the sheep and pigs stay outside with the use of shelters. We do supplement their diet with organic feed if needed. Our animals are slaughtered nearby then returned to us as carcases for our butchers to hang and prepare the meat to order.
5. What if I'm not happy with the meat you send me?
   Our organic meat is of the highest standard, but if you're not satisfied for any reason, then we like to know so we can put it right.  Call or email us with your comments and we'll call you back to resolve the matter.
